A DOG owner has revealed how she transformed her staircase into a modern design for just £29 – after her puppy ate the carpet.
Sandra and Mark Young bought pooch Nanci, an Alaskan Klee Kai, to come and live with them in Ipswich, but she took a shine to their underlay.

Puppy proofing a house is hard, and the couple admitted defeat over their stairs after seven-month-old Nanci chewed at the carpet, trying to eat the underlay.
The couple decided to get rid of the carpet altogether, and completely redesigned their stairs for less than £30.
Posting incredible before-and-photos on Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, Sandra revealed how the managed to achieve a chic look on a budget.
They stripped the stairs back to their natural finish, sanded and varnished the wood before adding mosaic tile stickers on the steps.

She said: “After our puppy kept loosing the carpet to eat the underlay it had to go. [sic]
“So after seeing a post on here, my husband sanded down the stairs varnished them the used 2 rolls of sticky back vinyl from b&q costing £10 a roll with the varnish £28.99 altogether and it is not slippery at all.
“I’m in love.”

Her post has racked up more than 10,000 likes as fans praised the couple’s creativity.
And numerous people said they were inspired to try their hand at some DIY and recreate the look in their own home.
One person said: “This looks so nice! We should do something similar in the new house.”
Someone else commented: “They look nice, I’m thinking of ripping the carpet up off the stairs.”
